iOS 27 subscriptions: Bundles, Suites and multiseat purchases explained for app owners
Apple’s new subscription options let you sell to teams and companies, not only individuals. What changed on 16 September and what to prepare.

On 16 September 2026, Apple announced new ways to sell iOS 27 subscriptions: Bundles, Suites and multiseat purchases for groups and organizations. Together they let subscription apps reach teams, small businesses and departments, not only individual users.
If you run a subscription app, or plan to build one, this is one of the most important App Store changes of the year. Here is what each feature does, based on Apple’s official developer announcement, and what we recommend you prepare.
Four new ways to sell subscriptions

Bundles
With Bundles, people get access to multiple subscriptions in one purchase: within a single app, across several apps from the same developer, or even spanning apps from different developers. The App Store provides the purchase experience and shows every app included in the Bundle.
Suites
With Suites, people get one subscription that works across a set of apps from a single developer. It suits companies with a family of related apps, for example a main app plus companion tools.
Volume Purchasing
Organizations that use Apple Business and Apple School Manager can buy your subscription through a single in-app purchase and assign seats using a device management provider.
Group Purchases
A subscriber can buy multiple seats in a single in-app purchase and invite others to join. Apple handles seat assignment and the invitation flow, which opens your app to teams, departments and groups of collaborators without IT or procurement.
Key dates

- 16 September 2026: multiseat purchases are enabled by default for subscriptions in App Store Connect. You can turn them off or manage availability across the App Store, Apple Business and Apple School Manager.
- 22 October 2026: Volume Purchasing launches.
- Later this year: Bundles and Suites become available in iOS 27, iPadOS 27, macOS 27, tvOS 27 or later.
- This winter: Group Purchases launch.
How to prepare your app
- Move to StoreKit 2. Apple says you can start preparing today by making sure your app uses StoreKit 2 to handle in-app purchases.
- Decide your multiseat policy. Because multiseat is on by default, review whether your subscription should be sold per seat, and where.
- Check Bundles and Suites eligibility. Apple publishes eligible configurations, technical requirements and a request form.
- Design plans for teams. Think about team pricing, seat management in your backend, and a paywall that explains individual and team options clearly.
What it means for your business
Until now, many subscription apps were effectively limited to one person, one account. Multiseat purchases turn a work team, a small business or a department into a single paying customer. For B2B and productivity apps in particular, that can mean fewer barriers to adoption and larger deals.
The flip side is product work: seat management, roles, invitations and billing states need to be handled cleanly in your app and backend. That is easier to plan now than to patch later. If you are still choosing a platform, our comparison of web app vs mobile app can help.

Frequently asked questions
What are Bundles and Suites in iOS 27?
Bundles let people access multiple subscriptions in one purchase, even across apps from different developers. Suites give people one subscription that works across a set of apps from a single developer. Apple says both will be available later this year in iOS 27, iPadOS 27, macOS 27, tvOS 27 or later.
What are multiseat subscription purchases?
Multiseat purchases let organizations and groups buy several seats of a subscription at once. Volume Purchasing works through Apple Business and Apple School Manager, and Group Purchases let one subscriber buy seats and invite others, with Apple handling the invitation flow.
When does Volume Purchasing launch?
Apple says Volume Purchasing launches on 22 October 2026, and Group Purchases will launch this winter. Multiseat purchases were enabled by default for subscriptions in App Store Connect on 16 September 2026.
What should developers do to prepare for iOS 27 subscriptions?
Apple recommends making sure your app uses StoreKit 2 for in-app purchases. Developers should also review the multiseat settings in App Store Connect, check Bundles and Suites eligibility and plan how seats and roles will work in the app and backend.
